Harry Doremus' Military Pants

Up for bid is a pair of Captain's pants from the Spanish American War.  These pants are original and they were worn by Captain Harry B. Doremus of Hackensack, N.J.  The pants have his name inside although it is very difficult to see.  In the proper light and at the right angle it is easy to see his name near the inside pocket lining of the pants.
The pants are extremely well made and are only slightly soiled.

Captain Doremus was a decorated Spanish American War and World War I hero, having received the
Distinguished Service CrossCaptain Doremus was born on April 30, 1876 and served during World War I and served in the Spanish American War and the Cuban conflict.  He called Hackensack, N.J. his home.  He had a great impact on the community of Hackensack if you read newspaper accounts of World War I.  They named the American Legion Post in Hackensack, N.J. after him.

He was killed in action on October 27, 1918 only 15 days before the Armistice was signed on November 11, 1918 on a battlefield near Verdun.  It is reported that he was killed by either a German sniper or from machine gun fire to the head.  Captain Harry B. Doremus is a true American hero and these were his pants.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

These pants are also available for local pick up in Northern N.J.
